The Last Great Sunset
What a magical day this was, a few days ago. I think there will be no more sunsets such as this one this year. Let's hope I'm wrong, for my sake, against yours ;-).

Well, for me it's the saddest part of the year, to say goodbye to the summer, or more correctly, to summer vacation. Let the sad autumn season kick in...
... we get to spend one or two nights on this lovely hotel, called H2otel, near Covilhã, Serra da Estrela. And yes, it has everything to do with water. Check this other photos out.
Removing colors? There's an app for that. Replacing colors? There's an up for that too. Introducing Camera Accent, an app for replacing colors in real time. More photos taken with it soon. It's real interesting!
We had some great weather in Portugal, summer has arrived a bit later this year, but these last couple ...
What a great way to start this new season of photos, with a sunset! Hu? Oh, and by the way, how do you like the new template? Comment on it! Welcome back!
Ok, I understand that there are people with disabilities, others with difficulties in walking, but isn't it a tremendous amount of wasted energy to see this giant "moving carpets" roll when there is little to zero people in the ...
Cairo's main streets are filled with billboards on top of buildings. This shot was taken at sunset, processed with a new app I'm experimenting called Camera Plus.
It's hard to catch a sharp photo from a honey bee with the iPhone, and when you don't quite get it, the remedy is to unsharpen the rest. :-)
At our home, the bedroom window is orientated to sunrise. Waking up to direct sunlight is a great feeling, and these past days we had quite amazing warm mornings. I fell fortunate to have this opportunity every day...
I hope you had a relaxing weekend, mine was very stressful, and the next ones won't be calm either. It's going to be a mad July, I tell you!
It kinda have the look and feel of the 80's, doesn't it? Toning the shadows with red, pink or purple a little bit gives makes it look like this, I used the Mill Color app to get there. Toned ...
Simply trying to create the illusion of small and normal size cars through perspective positioning and blurring the upper part. I guess if the model car would be more detailed the illusion would be more successful.
I've showed this nice effect that the iPhone does when shooting while moving, but when you have an steady object behind (far away from the camera), it becomes even more interesting, don't you think?
"Get the children inside, now! A storm's coming!" It rained for about 2 minutes, but it rained heavily. Taken a month ago.
The excitement of the first minutes after taking off on vacation is something wonderful. It's when I begin to imagine what's expecting us, what's going to happen, what's it going to be like... And it's this moment you miss ...
While flying to Egypt, the itinerary was along the african coast for almost every time. We got to see beautiful beaches, humanly untouched territories, and somewhere along this island. I've tried to locate it in Google Earth, but ...
We stayed at Jose Malhoa's Ibis before flying to Egypt, and as mentioned in the previous post, this was our room view from the 12th floor. Used Pro HDR to balance exposure between the buildings and the sky. ...
Taken while staying in this hotel in Lisbon. After a few minutes in the room I noticed that planes approach the airport from this side and tried to grab a shot.
Last picture of a series of 3 taken on board a train. Should have marked it's coordinates with the GPS. GPS's signal inside the train is very weak, though.
Second picture of a series of 3 taken on board a train. Should have marked it's coordinates with the GPS. GPS's signal inside the train is very weak, though.
First picture of a series of 3 taken on board a train. Should have marked it's coordinates with the GPS. GPS's signal inside the train is very weak, though.
This was our room view in Cairo, last week, at the Ramses Hilton, right in the center of the city. A pano shot combined from 3 images and processed with a new app I'm testing called Film ...
While at Lisbon's Airport, walking to our boarding gate on our way to Egypt, we decided to enter a duty free shop. The lady from the shop was taking a picture with someone that seemed familiar to me, like ...
Just another fake DoF effect done with the TiltShiftGen app. It's the last one, I promise! :-D
From a skew angle like this one it is easy to emulate a depth of field effect with blurring. But it is not the only way, though (stand by for the next post).
Since they've built a community garden in the back of my building where people can grow vegetables on yearly assigned portions of land, I call it our backyard. You must ...
Back in Portugal, after a fabulous trip in Egypt, it's time to get on that train and head home. We're exhausted!
We're in Alexandria, it's chillier here, wondering what's so interesting about this mediterranean town in nothern Egypt.
It's hot here in Cairo, about 40ºC, and queen Hatchepsut is resting in peace! ;-) After visiting her temple in Tebas, it was fair to pay herself a visit here at the museum.
It's Monday, and we're heading back to Cairo, it's an 1 hour flight from Luxor. The Nile cruiser was spectacular! Tomorrow we'll be visiting Cairo's museum, lot's of mummies to see there.
We're in Aswan, and our cruiser through the Nile has just begun. For the next 4 days we'll be sailing down the river towards Luxor.
We're on a flight to Cairo right now, 2 hours have passed since takeoff and dinner's being served. Very very excited about the trip that's ahead of us. Arriving in Cairo at 21h55 local time. We'll be back soon, Scotty!
This kind of shot was taken according to this famous tip for the iPhone camera when taking self portraits, it consists in keeping the shutter button "pressed" until you point the camera, and than release your finger to actually ...
22.222 KM over a little more than a year, it is a fun number to watch on the odometer.
Following the same concept as the previous picture, this is 101. Agree?
I'm a 12 year-old dog (just made), who likes to play with my special ball, don't like to see my owners do nothing in front of the TV, and have a huge desire ...
In the winter we usually do not have negative temperatures here in Porto, but this year we had some very cold days, some of them reaching -1ºC. Yeap, that's cold for corner of the Mediterranean.
This is what happens when up try to figure out new ways of making panoramic photos. Autostich wasn't able to align the pics correctly and this was the outcome. Looks like a multiple exposed picture! CrossProcess did the ...
The symbol for the Portuguese post office, called CTT. According to their website, the horse stands for speed, connection and proximity, where the red stands for energy, dynamism, and modern.
Another shot for the series of reflections, rotated with PS Mobile and edited with BestCamera. One of my favorites so far.
View from my bedroom, curtains closed. A natural layer, no app can do that :-)
Same purpose as the previous two, make the new look old. This is from 1981 (if it wasn't for the modern rear bumper from the car right to the trash can).
Another example how CrossProcess can fake current photos into old ones.
It is amazing how this CrossProcess app for the iPhone can sometimes take you by surprise when it renders the picture. This old look and feel it added to this one is amazingly real. Like it? Hell yeah!
Since I'm on the subject light, this is another incredible example of the iPhone's sensor performance. Multiple edition involving TiltShiftGen, PS Mobile and Mill Color. No HDR technique applied to this one!
Although it isn't a pin sharp shot, it is amazing how the iPhone can shoot in extreme low light conditions. This picture was edited with 3 different apps: first some exposure corrections with PS Mobile, then I used ...
Rain, water, reflections, clear blue sky, I'm repeating myseft, you should already know those elements work all very well together...
This shot was taken while driving, and the element in the picture that reveals you that is the skew post. Some friends of mine that have already seen this picture thought at first it was a palm tree. This ...
